Dining Table Lights, what size should I get?

Radiate elegance with designs, where every light tells a story of style and sophistication.

The placement, type and size of lighting fixture play a crucial role in defining the ambiance and functionality of any space. Strategically positioned lights can accentuate architecture features, highlight focal points, and create a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, considering the size of lighting fixtures in a room is essential. Finding the perfect balance ensures harmony between form and function, elevating the ambiance of the space.

What size should my fixture be over my table?

This is a question asked everyday, how big should my fixture be? The answer is not black and white, but there are guidelines to follow. When choosing your dining room fixture you want to take into account the size of the table and the size of the room. Base your light on how your table sits on a regular basis, it may be able to extend for special occasions but this doesn’t happen everyday. Your fixture should be proportionate to the room and table, a general guideline for this is that the diameter of the fixture should be one-half to two-thirds the width of the table. We recommend hanging the fixture 36” above the table top, this will give you 30” of clearance for the height of the fixture on an 8ft ceiling. Ideally you always want to have minimum 6” between the edge of the fixture and the edge of the table.

If you choose to hang multiple fixtures over the table this takes a bit more math. divide the table width by the number of chandeliers plus one and use the result as the width or diameter for each chandelier. Install the chandeliers spaced the same distance apart as the width of the chandeliers. For example, if you would like to hang two chandeliers over a table that is 72 inches long (72 divided by 2+1), the width of each chandelier would be 24 inches, and they should be hung 24 inches from each end of the table.

If you have a tall ceiling or low ceiling you can always adjust the height of the fixture to fit the space, we never recommend hanging lower than 32”. With an extra tall ceiling don’t be afraid to go bigger or hang it a bit higher to fill the vertical space. If doing multiple pendants you could do two oversized pendants instead of three smaller ones for an artistic impact.

Don’t be afraid to break the rules. Make a statement.
